EDUCATION AND OUTREACH
Boys and Girls Club Program TBCC is proud to begin a new and innovative outreach program for underprivileged children in our community. The TBCC/Boys and Girls Club Program will take the valuable quality music education programs of TBCC into area Boys and Girls Club locations, beginning with our first program this fall at the Joe and Anne Garcia Club/Salesian Center. This program is designed to offer these children a chance to experience the joys of music in a familiar environment. The second and third grade singers will learn basic music skills, sing a variety of music and play instruments while learning to work effectively together as a group. The program will offer them the opportunity to grow and increase their self-confidence and discipline – skills that carry over into social and academic areas as well. TBCC Scholarship Program Each year, several TBCC receive financial assistance to help with uniform and
tuition costs. Approximately 25% of our total enrollment receives some
scholarship assistance. Intergenerational Concert Series Each year, the four choirs of TBCC regularly take our concerts to area retirement facilities and nursing homes. This outreach adds a touch of music and culture to the lives of the residents, and brings joy to all who listen. Community SongFests TBCC is proud to partner with area elementary and middle schools for each
Community SongFest Concert. At these performances, TBCC invites 3-4 local
schools to join us in a concert. Each school performs individually, and
then the groups combine with the TBCC choirs for two combined pieces. It
is a wonderful way to bring the children and families of our community together
with music. This season includes concerts in Wesley Chapel, Temple
Terrace, and South Tampa. All-State Preparation Workshop Each fall, TBCC and the USF Department of Music sponsor an All-State Preparation workshop. This session is available to any singer preparing to audition for the Florida All-State Chorus. The students work with the TBCC Artistic Staff to learn and prepare the music for auditions. The workshop is free to all students.
